The occasion went incredibly very well! We raised a total net of 70,000 for Reprieve, and everyone appeared to love the eveninga close 2nd location. Hargreave Hale followed in third place, then came Folio Books and after that Herbert Smith. Jon Snow did a superb task in hosting and Clive Stafford Smith, as normal, captivated everyone with his compelling speech – this time concerning the CIA-led drone attacks that happen to be killing civilians all more than Waziristan. Folks walked away saying how wonderful it had been to try and do some thing different at a charity occasion, in lieu of the regular sit-down dinner. My favourite question in the quiz, in the science and nature category, was:
Q: It's uncommon, if not really unusual, for a bulb (in this case, a spring bulb), and a butterfly to talk about the exact same name. What exactly is it?
A: Fritillary
I am now sitting in the garden of my friend's residence in Zimbabwe, in which I will be for three days in advance of going to the bush in Zambia. Will report on holiday in the end!
